Really well constructed for the money. You could pay a lot more - however model is nice in the hand. Lots of reviews are negative - You can be really really picky about things but then you need to adjust and say ' This cost just of £30' It is clearly similar to another brand(MAK).... and fittings apparently same size for bases etc. Tried some letter writing and now making a perspex base with handles for it to help with this. Rounding over is a breeze now as sits in hand so nicely unlike getting my other full size router out - which is just too big. TBH haven't used it for a while so hence the Katsu...... There are loads of accessories for it also at a reasonable price as well. Tilt base / Plunge base AIMTools have spares for it too, so should anything happen there is a level of comfort that you can get hold of them.... which is odd really for a £30 power tool. A defo benefit to us Katsu buyers. People have been using their Katsu trimmer/router for years without issue. If you are using for DIY/Hobby man shed type stuff this is great - cannot comment on other well known brands apart from quality for me is similar to Bosch Pro tools I have already. If you are using this for work or as a pro - maybe you're not paying so don't care so want the best - fine. But if you want to try it out for £30 or just over then I am convinced you would not be disappointed - maybe you would buy more than one to save time with bit changes.... 1 unit for trimming with flush bit and another katsu with a round over bit ......just saying AND it would still be cheaper than one Mak......Read full review

Very sturdy and seems well made. The plastic see through attachment is flimsy and not easy to take on and off and the plastic retaining lug broke on first use. This also gets covered in dust so you can not see the router blade.

The quality is good. The design is good. It functions extremely well. This palm router has an ease of adjustment and is secured very quickly. The bit change is helped by the securing pin on the shaft base, making it a simple procedure to change the cutters. The variable speed is a good idea it removes the jerk when it's starting up. Good value for the money. Comparison with another similar well known brand shows they not too dissimilar. An asset to anyone who works with wood.

So seen a lot of complaints about this router and personally i find it great value for money. I am a carpenter to trade and specialise in custom designed and made LED Lighting systems amongst many other things. I generally only but Makita or Dewault power tools as they are reliable and last for a long time. I had to travel to Asia on a job and with 50Hz in UK and 60Hz electric where i was going this was a big issue for me as my main Routers just wont work out there properly. The rest of my power tools are all Lithium Battery powered and not an issue. So I bought this Unit along with the Plunge base, gave it a quick try out and was surprised with the the build quality, It is not to heavy nor to light. In Asia i used it for machining 12mm and 18mm MDF and had no issues with it at all. To be honest i was worried that it would fail or break but it didn't and it was being used a lot every day for a fortnight. Some people have mentioned about the cable not being great but this machine is just over 700 watts and the cable is just fine in my opinion. I like the way you can securely change from trimmer base to the Plunge Base. My Makita timmer cost more than twice the price and it has no plunge base option, my main 1/4" plunge router is a lot bigger and heavier where this one just feels great in my hands. It is a brilliant piece of equipment for the hobbyist or for lighter work but it can handle heavy work except it takes more passes and longer time. In the trimmer base it can be a bit wobbly but my solution was to make a larger square 5mm clear Perspex base to increase the stability and the issue is solved. My only real negative point would be that no guide bush is included with the main router or with the plunge base attachment but again i managed to use one i had for another router. All in all this machine is excellent value for money, if you purchase the plunge base also or even the larger all in one kit then you shouldn't be disappointed as it is a very able machine for what it has been design for, All Metal bases (Makita trimmers have plastic bases) and all for less than £70. I now have two of them because the first one was pushed hard being the only router i had for a one off job in Asia and it held up and did what i wanted and needed it to. 25+ years being a carpenter and i know a good tool from power quality ones and this router is high quality, well made, strong and so far very reliable. 2020 UPDATE So since buying this unit i have used it at least once a week for over two hours and it is still performing fantastically. I have used it on solid timbers, timber boards, on perspex and acrylic using milling bits, aluminium sheets up to 2mm thick again using tungsten carbide milling bits and not router bits. I plan to buy a second unit soon as very handy. This router has truly amazed me, this sort of build quality and reliability you expect from the well known professional/trade brands but not for a machine under £35. Read full review

This router is excellent value for money it has variable speed motor and interchangeable bases. But best of all the parts from a better known brand fit this which makes this a must have trimmer for the money you pay. Used this on a couple of projects works just as well as my other more expensive big brand router will be looking to buy a second as a spare back up they are that cheap. The build quality is good feels good to hold its heavy in all the right places if you know what I mean, comfortable to hold. Down side only comes with one cheap looking spanner which is not a problem if you have a spanner set to hand or just buy a second one but that's it for the money this thing cost went out and bought the tilt base from same maker cost me £16 had to buy the offset base from another big brand but it fits like a glove. But I can now change the base to any configuration I need for laminating. In all very good purchase. Gary wallbank. Read full review
